Could something have been added to my drink - #10514
Dear Doctor, I would like to ask for a medical opinion regarding an incident that happened to me on Friday night at a bar, as I am quite uncertain about what happened. On Friday evening, I went out for drinks with my friends. Compared to my usual drinking, I did not drink much; I usually drink far more than I did that night. I always drink consciously and know my limits, and I stop when I feel I have had enough. The last time I vomited from alcohol was three years ago, and I cannot recall ever having memory loss from drinking. So far, no matter how much I drank, I have always remembered everything. On Friday, we went to two bars. At the first one, everything was fine I could talk normally and walk properly. I felt the effects of alcohol, but I was nowhere near extremely drunk. At the second place, I only had one shot. I had not drunk anything for at least an hour before that, and I would not have drunk it if I had felt I shouldn’t. Afterwards, we danced, and everything seemed normal. Then, suddenly, I grabbed the hand of one of my female friends, pulled myself onto the couch with her, and collapsed. She could not wake me up; I was like a rag doll. She tried to sit me up, but I kept falling back. I vomited once there. Afterwards, I had to be carried because I could not walk even with support. This has never happened to me before I have always been able to manage with support, no matter how drunk I was. They tried to help me down the stairs without carrying me, but I collapsed there as well, and my back got bruised. Then I was carried again; I allegedly resisted, but about 90% of the time after the incident is missing from my memory. I only have a few small fragments, mostly sounds, because I could not lift my head.During the evening, I vomited at least three times. About three hours later, I felt better and could walk again. I do not know how to explain this incident because it has never happened before. I am 22 years old and have been going out since my teenage years, and I have drunk alcohol many times before, but nothing like this has ever occurred. Even in my worst alcohol experiences, I could still walk, even after drinking much more than that night. I would greatly appreciate your guidance and your response. Thank you very much for your help.
