Can a short axis 11mm lymph node be benign? - #10507

Lau

Hello! I, 28 Female, Spain, obese have been feeling swollen lymph nodes in my neck for a year after a nasty strep throat infection. I consulted various doctors and ENT but they all told me to not worry about it since the swelling of the lymph nodes have a “clear reason” why they are swollen. All along I could feel 2 submandibular ones but 2 weeks ago, I felt another one, this time on the right side of my neck. I worried a lot and I went to my primary care doctor and she said I needed an ultrasound. I had the ultrasound and the report says I have at least 4 swollen lymph nodes in the submandibular area and on the right side of my neck. It describes that the lymph nodes have normal characteristics (oval shape, presence of fatty hilum, regular cortex and central vascularity) but one of them has a short axis of 11mm (I know the limit is 10mm to be considered benign) therefore my question, can a lymph node have that big of a short axis and still end up being benign?
