Do I have a cold sore? - #10498
I noticed a strange sensation on my upper lip that felt tight, dry, and slightly numb, so I worried it might be the beginning of a cold sore. I hadn’t seen any bumps or blisters, but I used acyclovir cream just in case because I was anxious about the possibility of herpes. The sensation seemed to be on both sides of my upper lip in roughly the same spots in the middle of my upper lip, which made me unsure if it matched how cold sores usually appear. After applying the cream, nothing developed—no blisters, sores, or visible changes—and now my lip looks normal; it's still a bit dry in both areas. Because of that, I’m trying to figure out whether I ever actually had a cold sore in the first place or if it was just dryness or irritation.
