Swelling of the neck glands appearing after hysteroscopy - #10511

Rossana

Good afternoon, On March 11th, I underwent a diagnostic and operative hysteroscopy with removal of small endometrial polyps, under sedation/anesthesia via intravenous. I was not told what type of anesthetic was used. About a couple of hours after the procedure, I began to experience diffuse swelling of the neck and salivary glands, bilaterally, mainly located under the ears and jaw. The swelling is soft and tender to the touch; it does not increase during meals, and I feel no pain when chewing. I have no fever, difficulty swallowing, dry mouth, bad taste in the mouth, or redness of the skin. The symptoms therefore appeared a few hours after the procedure and, although five days have passed since the exam, they are still present, even if gradually attenuated. I have never had similar episodes in the past, nor any problems with the salivary glands. I have not recently had a cold or sore throat. The day after surgery, I only took one 1000 mg paracetamol tablet (Tachipirina). I'm 54 years old and have no significant medical conditions. During a previous surgery, performed several years ago, I was diagnosed with a severe allergy to Toradol. Could this be a reaction to the anesthesia or the procedure? Is this generally temporary, or would it be appropriate to undergo some treatment or undergo specific checks? Thank you for your attention.
