Doctors’ responses

Hi Nandan, your father’s chest discomfort on exertion points to stable angina, and the angiography confirming significant blockages likely means serious coronary artery disease. If the cardiologist recommended bypass surgery (CABG), it’s usually because: • Multiple arteries are severely blocked (often triple vessel disease), or • A critical area like the left main artery is involved, • Or the heart’s function is already affected. In such cases, medications alone are not enough—they may control symptoms but won’t prevent a heart attack or improve survival like surgery can.

Hi Meda, your symptoms suggest GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease). The heaviness and cold sensations may be side effects of the medication or stress. Recommendations: • Continue Sufragil O Gel after meals. • Take a PPI (Pantoprazole 40 mg) once daily on an empty stomach in the morning for better acid control. • Avoid spicy, fatty, and large meals. • Monitor for worsening symptoms like chest pain, dizziness, or shortness of breath. With proper treatment and lifestyle changes, this condition is manageable. Please follow up with your doctor for further evaluation and management.

Only mild blockages can sometimes be managed with medicines, but you should follow the cardiologist’s advice carefully.
