Doctors’ responses

Hi Loshiny, the mark you’re seeing is likely post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation from the wax burn. Since it’s been a month, start using a topical depigmenting agent like kojic acid, azelaic acid, or niacinamide once daily. Apply broad-spectrum sunscreen (SPF 50+) every morning—this is essential. Avoid further waxing or irritation in that area. If there’s no improvement in 4–6 weeks, consult a dermatologist for stronger options like hydroquinone creams or chemical peels. The pigmentation is treatable—just needs consistent care.

Ok I can Understand your problem. Diagnosis: 1) Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH) secondary to wax burn around the perioral area. I have treatment available for this , but use it carefully and remain in touch during the treatment. 1) Cream aziderm 15% Apply in the morning over clean, dry skin to the pigmented area. 2) Demelan Lite cream Apply a pea-sized amount to the pigmented area once daily at night. Duration: Use for up to 8 weeks. Caution: Discontinue if irritation, redness, or sensitivity occurs. Do not use continuously beyond 8 weeks. 3) Use Sp50+ PA++++ sunscreen 4) use cleanser like Cetaphil / bioderma / or cerave Twice daily 5) Use moisturising cream like Cetaphil , neutrogena , bioderma twice daily Please take Precautions: Do not wax over the area until pigmentation resolves. Avoid lemon juice, scrubs, or DIY treatments as they may worsen PIH. Avoid picking, rubbing, or exfoliating the area harshly. Hello With regards to your concern No need to use Cetaphil Neutrogena sun screen over the area. If you could share picture of the wax burn, can add more information about it. Also better to go for laser hair reduction rather than waxing to avoid side effects.

Consult a dermatologist for a gentle brightening cream or gel (like one with niacinamide or azelaic acid) and always use sunscreen to prevent the mark from darkening further.
