Is Mounjaro (tirzepatide) safe for weight loss in a 16-year-old with endometriosis? - #10378
hello doctor, I am a 16-year-old female (turning 17 in about 1.5 months). I weigh 84 kg and I am 1.63 m tall. I have a lot of difficulty losing weight, even with diet attempts. I have endometriosis and food intolerances (gluten and lactose). My metabolism seems very slow, and weight loss has been extremely difficult for me. Because of this, I have been considering using Mounjaro (tirzepatide) for weight loss. In my country, this medication does not require a prescription. However, I am concerned about safety, especially because of my age and my hormonal condition. I would like to know: • Is Mounjaro safe for someone my age? • Are there specific risks related to endometriosis or hormonal development? Would it be recommended to wait until adulthood or after medical exams? • Are there safer alternatives I should consider first? I am not looking to self-medicate without guidance. I would really appreciate an honest medical opinion about whether this could be appropriate or risky in my situation.
