Skin irritatirion - #9639

Amir

When the humidity in the environment drops below 30%, my skin becomes extremely sensitive and irritated. The dry air strips away the natural moisture from my skin, leading to discomfort, redness, and the appearance of white flakes, especially around my cheeks and forehead. This often results in red patches that feel tight, itchy, and sometimes even painful. The lack of moisture in the air causes my skin barrier to weaken, making it more prone to irritation and flaking. Even basic skincare products sometimes sting or worsen the condition during such times. It becomes essential for me to use a good humidifier indoors and a rich moisturizer to maintain hydration and soothe the skin.

Doctors’ responses

Hello Amir, Your symptoms suggest dry, sensitive skin due to low humidity, likely xerosis or barrier irritation. Recommendations: • Use a ceramide-rich moisturizer (e.g., Cetaphil Restoraderm) twice daily. • Cleanse with a gentle, soap-free cleanser. • Avoid hot water and harsh products. • Use a humidifier when humidity is low. • Stay well-hydrated. If symptoms worsen or don’t improve, consider a dermatology consult for further evaluation.
