Doctors’ responses

Hello Mr. Mohan Rao. Your lab parameters indicate that you might be consuming higher than usual amount of alcohol , which could explain all the signs and symptoms of liver dysfunction. Correct me if I am wrong. Alcohol addiction is a real psychiatric disorder and needs proper treatment and management so as to prevent further psychiatric and medical complications. Management includes 1) Using anti-craving agents to help with reducing craving for alcohol 2) Psychotherapy- Motivation enhancement therapy and Relapse prevention therapy 3) Lifestyle modifications and diet modifications to address diabetes Kindly consult the nearest psychiatrist/ endocrinologist for further assessment and management. Regards, Dr. Charan Kumar, MD Psychiatry (NIMHANS).
