Vaginal related - #9137

Swati Rawat

A few months ago i started feeling burning sensation and since i had uti a few years ago i took antibiotics this time as well but then i felt immense pain in vagina somedays, as if it was spasming and the pain subsided after 6 to 7 hours. I went to gyno and urologist and got many tests donr like urine test, mri and ct scan but they couldnt find the problem. And the urologist gave antibiotics for uti but didnt knoe what caused the rest of the symptoms. Now i dont feel that pain but somedays i feel pin like sensation mostly after peeing and slight discomfort down there. Also i am taking isotretinoin 20 mg daily.

Doctors’ responses

Hello Swati, After going through your complaints I wanted to ask your that is there cloth wetting suddenly? And one more thing.. repeated uti infection can be caused due to lack of vaginal hygiene or improper pH of vagina So I would advise you to 1 ) to get urine culture done to identify the organisms 2 use Vwash to maintain vagina hygiene 3 please use washroom after cleaning the seat even at home 4 continue the treatment and see improvement in your health 5 eat fruits and vegetables that would help to maintain pH

Hi Swati, I understand how uncomfortable and concerning your symptoms must be. Since you’ve experienced vaginal pain, occasional pin-like sensations after urination, and discomfort, here are some key suggestions to help manage your symptoms: 1. Perineal Hygiene: • Wash the vaginal and perineal area with lukewarm water only and avoid using products like V Wash, douches, or scented soaps. These products can disrupt the natural pH and flora, causing irritation and increasing the risk of infections. • Always wipe front to back to prevent bacterial spread. 2. Manage Isotretinoin Side Effects: • Since you’re on Isotretinoin (20 mg), which can cause dryness, you may benefit from using a vaginal moisturizer if dryness is contributing to your discomfort. 3. Lifestyle Tips: • Stay hydrated to support your urinary health. • Wear loose, breathable cotton underwear to minimize moisture and reduce irritation. • Try gentle pelvic relaxation exercises to ease any underlying muscle tension. 4. Probiotics: Taking a probiotic supplement may help restore the healthy vaginal and urinary flora, especially after antibiotic use. When to Seek Further Evaluation: If the discomfort persists, worsens, or affects your daily life, I’d recommend consulting a gynecologist specializing in pelvic pain or vulvodynia for further evaluation and longer-term management. Take care, Swati, and I hope you feel better soon!
