Persistent tartar buildup - #9028

Sujal

I constantly get tartar buildup even though I take care of my hygiene, I brush twice a day with fluoride toothpaste, use a soft-bristle brush, and go for regular cleanings. I don’t smoke and barely eat sweets, but plaque still hardens quickly, especially on my lower front teeth. Why does this happen?

Doctors’ responses

It sounds like you’re doing all the right things when it comes to oral hygiene, but tartar buildup can still occur due to factors beyond brushing and diet. Here are some possible reasons why you might be prone to faster tartar formation, especially on your lower front teeth Saliva Composition Tooth Alignment and Crowding Mouth Breathing Oral pH and Bacteria Inadequate Flossing or Missed Genetics Tips to slow tartar buildup: Use a tartar control toothpaste with pyrophosphates or zinc citrate, which helps prevent mineralization of plaque. Try an electric toothbrush, which may provide more effective cleaning, especially along the gumline. Use a water flosser or an antibacterial mouthwash to reduce plaque between teeth. Consider saliva testing to check for mineral imbalances or acidity. You’re doing a great job with your oral care, but slight adjustments could help minimize tartar formation. Hello dear Please be aware See tartar or calculus keeps on accumulating at the lower mandibular anterior due to proximity of sublingual gland .it secretes calcium and phosphorus which accumulates a plaque.so there is no method to prevent it except surgical removal of sublingual gland.so in my opinion just get scaling done after 6-12 months that will slow the process ,instead of surgery Regards

Hello Sujal, from the complaint...I think it might be related to your salivary gland or high acid reflux and u should start flossing your teeth at home too
