Doctors’ responses

Seena, based on your symptoms, you may have a urinary tract issue or kidney stone. Increasing water intake might help, but since you’re experiencing significant pain and difficulty urinating, I strongly recommend an in-person consultation for proper evaluation, including urine tests and imaging if needed. If the pain worsens, you develop fever, or notice blood in urine, seek urgent medical attention.” (This is general advice as per telemedicine guidelines. A physical examination and diagnostic tests are necessary for an accurate diagnosis.)

Your symptoms — sharp lower right abdominal pain while urinating, right-sided lower back pain, difficulty moving your back, and incomplete urination — suggest a possible urinary tract issue, such as a kidney stone, urinary tract infection (UTI), or even hydronephrosis (swelling of a kidney due to urine buildup). The inability to fully empty your bladder and the intense pain are concerning. These signs may indicate obstruction in your urinary tract, possibly caused by a stone or inflammation, which can also irritate nearby nerves and muscles, leading to severe back stiffness. You should seek urgent medical attention. A doctor may advise: Urine analysis and culture Ultrasound or CT scan of the abdomen and pelvis Blood tests to check kidney function and infection markers Prompt diagnosis and treatment can prevent complications. In the meantime: Drink plenty of water (unless advised otherwise) Avoid holding urine for long periods Use a heating pad for back pain relief (temporarily)

Hello Seena Marina, So Dysuria which is painful urination can be because of varied causes such as Urinary Tract infection, any use of irritant like powders or lubricants in your pelvic region, kidney stones, Sexually transmitted diseases, any kind of incontinence such as urge incontinence or stress urinary incontinence and genital prolapse which usually occurs in old patients with previous history of vaginal births. Since your pain is radiating to the lower back on the right side, it’s likely that you might have a kidney stone or a Stone in the Ureter (tube connecting your kidney to the bladder) or Urinary Bladder. This can also lead to a UTI which is causing pain during urination. Also kindly look for any bulge felt in your genital region which may be suggestive of a cystocele which is bulging of the bladder due to weakness of the bladder wall fascia which can cause difficult to pass urine completely. I would further like to advise a few tests to make a final diagnosis- CBC, Urine Routine Microscopy, Urine Culture and Sensitivity, USG Abdomen+Pelvis+ KUB with post voidal urine, Sugars-HbA1C, Fasting, PP and sos a vaginal swab and STI panel if required. Hope this helps! Revert back in case of any query!
