Doctors’ responses

I understand how uncomfortable and frustrating this must be for you, especially since it has been happening repeatedly for the past three months. From what you’ve described—painful pimples that start as cysts, turn white, and release pus—it’s likely due to blocked glands, folliculitis, or an infection. However, since it’s persistent, we need to consider other possibilities like Bartholin’s cyst, hidradenitis suppurativa, or even a bacterial infection. Here’s What You Can Do Right Now: 1. Warm Compress & Sitz Baths – Soaking in warm water 2-3 times a day can help ease discomfort and encourage natural drainage. 2. Keep the Area Clean & Dry – Use mild, fragrance-free soap and avoid harsh scrubbing. Cotton underwear is best. 3. Avoid Squeezing or Popping – This could worsen the infection and cause scarring. 4. Apply an Antiseptic Ointment – Something like Mupirocin or Betadine can help prevent further bacterial infection. 5. Pain Relief – If it’s too painful, you can take Ibuprofen to reduce swelling and discomfort. When You Should See a Doctor: • If the pimples are not healing, growing larger, or becoming more painful. • If you develop fever, swollen lymph nodes, or unusual vaginal discharge. • If the issue keeps recurring despite home care. Since this has been ongoing for months, I really recommend seeing a gynecologist. They can examine you properly and suggest antibiotics, drainage, or any further tests if needed. Don’t worry—this is common and treatable, but getting to the root cause will help prevent future flare-ups.

The symptoms you describe — painful cyst-like pimples on the inner lips of the vagina that turn white and release pus — may be due to Bartholin's gland cysts or abscesses, folliculitis, or even a recurring bacterial or viral infection like herpes simplex. Since this has been going on for over 3 months, it's very important to consult a gynecologist or dermatologist who can examine the area properly and possibly take a swab or sample to test for infection, including bacterial cultures and STI screening if needed. Treatment depends on the underlying cause. If it's bacterial, a course of antibiotics may be prescribed. For recurring cysts or abscesses, sometimes a minor procedure is done to help with drainage or prevent recurrence. In the meantime, avoid squeezing the pimples yourself, wear loose cotton underwear, keep the area clean with lukewarm water (no harsh soaps), and avoid any irritants. Getting a clear diagnosis is key to stopping the cycle and healing completely — so don’t delay your visit to a specialist.
