pus from Right Ear. - #9126
Hello Doctor, I have been experiencing pus discharge from my right ear for the past few months, and it has a very bad smell. I don’t recall any injury, but this issue has been persistent. Sometimes, I also feel mild discomfort, and my hearing seems slightly affected. The discharge is usually yellowish or greenish, and it occurs intermittently. I haven't used any medication so far, except for cleaning my ear occasionally. Can you please help me understand what might be causing this? Could it be an infection, and if so, what type? Is there a possibility of a more serious condition like cholesteatoma or chronic otitis media? What tests would you recommend to diagnose the exact cause? Also, what treatment options are available? Do I need antibiotics, or could this require a minor procedure or surgery? Lastly, is there anything I should avoid, like using earbuds or getting water into my ear, to prevent the condition from worsening?
