Rohit

Just got my tests done and my bilirubin is trending at 0.99. is it dangerous? I have not any medical history. Just got my yearly tests done. My weight is 90kg height 5.8 I just want to know about the heart and liver reports. The basic vitals are high for these two organs, so just want to know if any immediate medication is required or just basic diet and life cycle will heal the vitals.

Doctors’ responses

A bilirubin level of 0.99 is actually within the normal range. Typically, anything below 1.2 mg/dl is considered normal.¹ So, in your case, there's no immediate cause for concern regarding your bilirubin levels. However you should focus on gut health(constipation ,acidity, bloating)by taking probiotic and laxative

Hello Rohit, for your bilirubin level I would they are in normal range but close to border side .As in your case u are obese so u need to get a USG done if just to check if there is any fatty liver. And I would advise to start working out for atleast 1 hour daily that should include 15-30 minutes cardio like brisk walking. Also you get your lipid profile done that would help u to get clear picture. For diet I would suggest shift to more fibre base diet and avoid oily food instead of that start a balanced diet. That would help u to improve your health. Thank you hope you like my advice

As of now u need not worry.Normal serum bilirubin level is 0.2-0.8mg%.But anything less than 1g% is considered as normal only.If the level is exeeding 2.5g% then it should be considered significant. Just to add,do u have any other issues like fever, weight loss, abdomen pain, constipation or yellowish coloration of eyes(sclera) or itching in skin. If nothing then your liver health seems good. For safer side you can get ultrasound abdomen done. Stop smoking and alcohol completely. Eat antioxidants and adequate amount of mulitivitamins. Regular exercize and good hydration keeps you healthy. Thank you

Hi Rohit, based on the information you’ve shared, a bilirubin level of 0.99 mg/dL is within the normal range, as the reference range for total bilirubin is typically 0.1 to 1.2 mg/dL. Therefore, this value is not concerning or dangerous. 1. Heart and Liver Vitals Insight If your basic vitals (such as blood pressure, cholesterol, or liver enzymes) were slightly elevated but still within a mild range, they can often be managed with lifestyle modifications rather than immediate medication. Here’s how to interpret common indicators: Heart Vitals: If you have mild elevations in cholesterol (LDL) or blood pressure, it can be controlled with diet, regular exercise, and stress management. Liver Vitals: Elevated liver enzymes (ALT, AST, or GGT) may indicate mild fatty liver or inflammation, which can be improved with a low-carb, low-fat diet, regular hydration, and weight management. 2. Weight and Lifestyle Management At 90 kg with a height of 5'8", your BMI is approximately 30.7, which is classified as obese. This can put some strain on your heart and liver. To reduce the risk of further complications: Diet: Follow a balanced diet with high fiber (vegetables, whole grains) and lean protein. Limit refined carbs, sugar, and processed foods. Include foods rich in omega-3s (flaxseeds, walnuts) for heart health. Exercise: Aim for 150-300 minutes of moderate-intensity exercise weekly (brisk walking, cycling). Include strength training twice a week to boost metabolism. Hydration: Drink at least 3 liters of water daily to support liver detoxification.
