Persistent scabies itching despite treatment - #10246

Abdullah Al Siam

Hello Doctor, I am suffering from scabies. I have intense itching, especially at night. The itching is worse in some areas, including the genital area. Earlier, some areas were swollen and very itchy, and now those areas are becoming dry and rough, but the itching is still present. I am still not fully healed and the symptoms have not improved much. A doctor prescribed Perosa cream and advised me to apply it once daily for 7 days. I have already started using it at night. However, I read online that some people use it once weekly, so I am confused whether daily use for 7 days is correct and safe. Along with the cream, I am also taking: - Cetirizine for itching - Vitamin B-complex After a few days of treatment, the itching has reduced slightly at night, but it has not completely gone, especially in the genital area. Additionally, my younger sister, who is 11 years old, is also experiencing similar itching symptoms. I would like to know: 1. Is daily use of Perosa cream for 7 days correct? 2. How long does it usually take for itching to completely stop after proper scabies treatment? 3. Do I need to repeat the treatment after one week since I am still not fully healed? 4. Is it normal for the skin to become dry and rough during healing? 5. Should my family members, including my 11-year-old sister, also be treated even if they have mild or no symptoms? Thank you.
