Doctors’ responses

Hey Riya, I’m sorry you’re going through this—it sounds really uncomfortable. The itching, burning sensation while urinating, and lower abdominal pain could be signs of a vaginal infection or even a urinary tract infection (UTI). Since the itching is worst at night and inside the vaginal opening, a yeast infection could also be a possibility, even if there’s no visible discharge. Feeling weak, drowsy, and low on energy might be related to the infection or could indicate something like low hemoglobin (anemia). Since you’re experiencing lower abdominal pain as well, it’s best not to ignore these symptoms. I’d recommend: Hey Riya, I’m sorry you’re going through this—it sounds really uncomfortable. The itching, burning while urinating, and lower abdominal pain could be signs of a vaginal infection or even a urinary tract infection (UTI). Since the itching is worst at night and inside the vaginal opening, a yeast infection is also a possibility, even if there’s no visible discharge. Feeling weak, drowsy, and low on energy might be linked to the infection or could indicate low hemoglobin (anemia). Since you’re also experiencing lower abdominal pain, it’s important not to ignore these symptoms. Here’s what you can do right now: 1. Keep the area dry – Moisture can worsen irritation and promote infection. Change out of sweaty clothes quickly, and pat dry with a soft towel after washing. Avoid wearing damp or tight underwear for long periods. 2. Maintain good personal hygiene – Wash the external area (vulva) gently with warm water. Avoid scented soaps, washes, and wipes, as they can disrupt the natural balance and make irritation worse. 3. Choose breathable fabrics – Wear loose, cotton underwear instead of synthetic fabrics, which can trap heat and moisture. At night, consider sleeping without underwear to allow airflow. 4. Avoid scratching – I know it’s hard when the itching is intense, but scratching can cause tiny cuts, making the irritation worse or even leading to an infection. 5. Drink plenty of water – This helps flush out toxins and can be especially helpful if a UTI is contributing to the burning sensation. You should also get checked for: • Yeast infection or bacterial vaginosis (both can cause itching and irritation). • Urinary tract infection (UTI) (since you have burning while urinating). • Iron levels (Hb test) (to rule out anemia if you’re feeling weak and drowsy). • Thyroid and prolactin levels (hormonal imbalances can sometimes contribute to discomfort). Since the itching is intense and affecting your sleep, it’s best to see a doctor as soon as possible. They may prescribe antifungal medication, antibiotics, or other treatments based on the cause. Take care, and keep me posted on how you’re feeling!
