Dr. Varun Sanap

I am a dedicated surgical professional with a strong foundation in general surgery and a growing specialization in surgical oncology. My journey began in 2018 when I started working as a Junior Resident in general surgery, a role I held for three years until 2021. During this time, I gained extensive hands-on experience in managing a wide range of surgical emergencies, inpatient care, and perioperative procedures, which helped shape my clinical judgment and sharpen my technical skills. In 2021, I advanced to the position of Senior Resident in general surgery, where I further refined my expertise in complex surgical interventions and multidisciplinary care. This role deepened my understanding of patient-centered surgical management and allowed me to mentor junior residents, reinforcing my commitment to continuous learning and collaboration in a clinical setting. Since 2022, I have been working as a DrNB Surgical Oncology Senior Resident at the National Cancer Institute in Nagpur. This current role represents a significant and meaningful phase in my career, where I am actively involved in the surgical management of various malignancies. I work closely with a multidisciplinary team to provide evidence-based, individualized cancer care, focusing on both curative and palliative surgical interventions. My responsibilities include participating in tumor boards, assisting in advanced oncologic surgeries, managing postoperative care, and contributing to patient counseling and education. My approach to patient care is comprehensive and empathetic—I believe that surgical excellence must be matched with strong communication, compassion, and a commitment to improving quality of life. I am passionate about oncologic surgery and remain focused on advancing my knowledge through clinical experience, academic learning, and patient interaction.
