My mom has bipolar. I am first born. I also suffer sometimes from deep sadness. Very high over thinking. I try so much to come out of that sad phase and mostly I end up being depressed. Sometimes I get angry very fast. Either I'm sad or angry.

Raksha

I'm very sad and angry. My mom has bipolar but she takes her medications. How do I overcome this? I have no career because of same. I start something and I can not finish it because of constantly self criticism, fear of failure, extreme over thinking.

Doctors’ responses

Hi Ms. Raksha, it's unfortunate that those problems are hampering your productivity. With the amount of history you have given, it is not possible to come at a conclusion that you also might be having bipolar disorder. About depression you are suffering from, and given the fact that your mother is also a bipolar disorder patient, it could be highly indicative of bipolar depression; which needs a different management strategy when compared to unipolar depression. Constant self criticism, fear of failure, excessive worrying and low self esteem could indicate Anxious- avoidant personality trait. However, at this point, these are all speculations. Kindly contact psychiatrist for detailed assessment and evaluation. Or else, you can contact me for consultation over my mail mentioned below.
