Doctors’ responses

Hello Since she is suffering from stage 1 endometrial Cancer which is cancer confined to the Uterus (less than or more than 50% of the myometrium), Total Abdominal Hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy is the treatment of choice (Removal of the uterus with both tubes and ovaries) the procedure is comparatively safe however because of her comorbidities (BP and Sugar) it is better to do it at a tertiary hospital with Physician back up. I wouldn’t advice medical treatment for her. Stage 1 endometrial cancer if treated early surgically has good prognosis. Hope this helps! Take care!

Hi, For stage 1 uterine cancer, the best treatment is Total Abdominal Hysterectomy with Bilateral Salpingo-Oophorectomy (TAH + BSO) with lymph node removal. This surgery removes the uterus, ovaries, tubes, and nearby lymph nodes to prevent spread. Though your mother is 75 with BP and diabetes, if these are well-controlled, the surgery is generally safe. Medicines alone can’t cure this cancer. With early surgery, the prognosis is very good, and chances of full recovery are high.

I understand how overwhelming this must be for you and your family. At 75 years old, with stage 1 uterine cancer, your mother's condition is still in an early and treatable stage, which is a good sign. In most cases, especially at stage 1, the standard and most effective treatment is surgery—a total hysterectomy with removal of ovaries, fallopian tubes, and nearby lymph nodes. This helps ensure all cancer cells are removed and reduces the risk of recurrence. Since she also has blood pressure and diabetes, surgery can still be safe if her overall health is stable and well-managed. The doctors will assess her heart, kidney function, and sugar control before surgery to minimize risks. Medication alone is generally not enough to cure uterine cancer, especially in older patients, but may be considered only if surgery is not possible due to poor general health. Based on what you've shared, if her vitals are under control, surgery offers the best chance of cure. It's always wise to take a second opinion from an oncologist, but don’t delay—early-stage cancers respond best to timely treatment.
